Status:
Unknown distribution within Snowdonia, no current records. A native species, newly added to the UK, Wales and Snowdonia Biodiversity Action Plan lists.
The status of harvest mice is largely unknown as there has been very little survey effort. The last records for Snowdonia are from the 1970s at Morfa Harlech and a few from the north of the Park in the 1960s. There is a record from Hafod Garregog NNR within the Wales Invertebrate database of a harvest mouse sighting. It is likely that harvest mice are much like dormice in Snowdonia, i.e. they are at the edge of their natural range and will never occur in any great numbers. Having said that, they are largely unobtrusive animals and it is highly likely that there are populations that have not been recorded. More survey effort is required here.
